Kate DixonKate and Romeo

Kate's background is incredibly varied. She's done everything from Barrel Racing and Roping to Show Jumping on the South American International circuit. She has shown Arabians, Morgans, Quarter Horses and Paints in National and Regional Breed shows and rode for Oregon State University on both the Event Team and the Hunter/Jumper Team.

KatejumpingmilesKate started her training career in 1992, when Inavale Farm in Philomath, Oregon hired her as their Head Trainer. Inavale was a Morgan show horse barn but was looking to expand into the Sport Horse world. While there, Kate built a strong lesson program and eventually hired 2 assistant instructors, built a challenging Cross-Country course, and opened the barn to a variety of breeds and disciplines.

After  5 years at Inavale, Kate went out on her own as an Independent Trainer while competing Arabians, Morgans, Quarter Horses, Paints, Thoroughbreds, and Warmbloods in Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing, and Regional Breed Shows.

She continued as an Independent Trainer in Oregon, Alaska, Wyoming and, in 2009, moved to Flagstaff where she currently lives with her husband Shawn and son Jacob (pictured below on their horse, "Roanie"). Here in Flagstaff, Kate continues to train horses and their riders in horsemanship and in the variety of riding disciplines in which she has so much experience.
